Winter Baking EssentialsWith a few more snowfalls on their way, winter is most definitely still here! Fortunately, this means that you can still work on your winter baking skills! Hot chocolate, marshmallows, cake and more! There’s nothing better than sitting on the couch with a cozy knit blanket, a cup of hot cocoa and a slice of your newest warm, rich recipe. Mmmm…. can you smell the cookies baking? Let's get started.

1) Cuisinart Precision Master Stand Mixer- Do you know what you can do with a stand mixer? Basically anything. Mixers are a big investment but they have an even bigger return in the food department. You can purchase attachments that let you make such a variety of recipes – from meat grinding to pasta making to pastry baking! Our favourite winter recipe? Honey Sticky Buns (get the recipe)

2) Baking Pan- It wouldn’t be dessert if it didn’t include cake! It doesn’t have to be fancy, but get yourself a good quality pan so you’re almost guaranteed excellent results. You don’t want to go through all that work and have half of it stick to the pan. Make a cake for yourself first and then make a second one to warm up your office. Your co-workers will be grateful that you read this guide! One of our favourite winter recipes is Apple and Dark Chocolate Pound Cake. (get the recipe)

3) Cooling Racks and Oven Mitts- If you’re baking up a storm, you can’t forget to prepare for the part that happens once the oven beeps and the treats enter your mouth. Unfortunately, baked goods need to cool for a bit so make sure to protect that beautiful kitchen of yours by purchasing a few cooling boards and kitchen towels. Aim for rich, warm colours to compliment that cinnamon smell wafting through the air.

4) Hot Cocoa Cups- Don't forget- the most important part of baking is relaxing. Once you’ve prepped all the dough, make sure to sit back and enjoy your creation. Sipping on a hot chocolate doesn’t hurt, especially if your hot chocolate has a little twist on the traditional. Try this Hot Chocolate with Homemade Marshmallows (get the recipe).
