Are You Washing Your Bedding Often Enough?

Did you know that most people aren’t washing their bedding nearly as often as they should be? Washing your bedding often promotes better hygiene and a better overall sleep experience. Keep reading to see if you measure up to how much you should be washing your bedding.

Sheets
Sheets and pillowcases are what collect the majority of our bodies dirt, sweat, and oil. That’s why it is recommended that you wash your sheets once per week. If you are showering nightly before bed or sleep alone, you may be able to get away with washing them every other week.

Get a couple sets of your favorite sheet so you don’t have to worry about washing them before bed the day you change them. It’s also good to pick a day each week that you wash them so you can keep on top of it.

Pillows
Pillows are protected by pillowcases, so they don’t need to be washed as often, but it is still important that they get washed. It is recommended to wash your pillows about once every three months. How often should you replace your pillows? Find out >

Duvet Covers & Comforters
Just like a pillowcase protects your pillow, your duvet cover protects your duvet. If you’re using a top sheet, your duvet cover probably doesn’t have to be washed quite as often so a good rule of thumb is to wash it every other week or at least once a month.

This rule also applies to comforters that do not have a cover as well as any other sort of blanket you use on top of your top sheet.

Duvet Insert
If you’re using a duvet you need to remember to wash the insert as well. Since it has a cover you don’t need to wash it that often but it is recommended to wash it a couple of times a year and more in the summer months when your body is producing more sweat.

So, how do you match up to the recommended wash times? If you aren’t washing your bedding quite as often as you should be consider doing it a little bit more or adding more bedding options to your rotation.
