Mood Board: Pantone Colours of Year

Did you know? Every year Pantone selects a colour, or colours, that will represent the year in design and style. The Pantone Color of the Year for 2021 is Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. You will be seeing this bold sunshine yellow and this stormy gray throughout home decor in 2021, so why not get a jump on it yourself?

Here are some tips and tricks on how to incorporate these colours into your home to stay on trend in 2021.

The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a colour combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.” – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute

Illuminating
This bright, bold sunny yellow can be quite intimidating. Try incorporating it through smaller objects like decorative vases, candle holders and planters. You will find this sunny yellow mixed in with more muted tones in rugs, throws, curtains, linens. Don’t let it overwhelm you, a little goes a long way.

Ultimate Gray
Light shades of gray are no stranger to the design and decor world. Chances are you already own items in Ultimate Gray or a shade close to it. Gray is a great neutral and works in just about any space. Be sure to break it up with brighter colours, like Illuminating, to give the space life. Textured gray is wonderful because it brings depth to an otherwise plain colour.
